Canon EOS 5D Mark II Announced a 21.1 Megapixel Full Frame

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II was today announced by Canon, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is the successor to the hugely popular Full Frame Canon EOS 5D.

This camera has been long awaited, with the earliest rumours initially pointing to a late 2007 release, since this date many speculated announcement dates have come and gone, but finally it is here not long after Nikon’s D700 release a week after Sony’s step into the full frame world with the Alpha 900.

I know many photographers including myself who already have their credit cards primed ready to pre-order or purchase the Canon EOS 5D Mark II once it becomes available online, the only question now is do we wait for Canon’s expected next full frame release the EOS 3D or 6D/7D?

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II will feature a full frame 21.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor, and will retail for US$2699 (body only) US$3,499 (Body + EF 24-105 L Kit)

To pre-order or purchase I highly recommend B&H Camera and video, they provide the best sales and service in the US. Click on the link above to check this cameras status.
