Even though the official
price of the 5D Mark II in many countries is yet to be officially released many
dealers are already quoting an approximate price, comparing prices country to
country there is only minor disparity in the cost of the 5D Mark II between
countries.
Looking at the figures
below Canada would seem to be the cheapest place to purchase a 5D Mark II if
stock hit the shelves tomorrow, having said that there have been rumours floating
around that Canon Canada will soon revise up the price of the 5D Mark II, I can
only imagine this is to equalise the price and stop shoppers from the US
getting a small bargain.
In Australia stores are quoting between AU$4199 & US$4499 (US$2823 – US$3025)
In the UK stores are quoting between £1770.71 & £2299.01 (US$2770 – US$3597)
In Canada stores are quoting between CA$2995 & CA$3099 (US$2519 - US$2606)
Seeing the Australian
makes me a bit sad, I am hoping either the Aussie $ recovers a to the .98/1 US$
level it was at only a two or so months ago, or that Canon Australia do the
opposite of what Canon Canada have done, Fat chance of that.
My tip is if you have
not already pre-ordered, and provided there is stock available (Very unlikely) keep
an eye on the price in different countries and shops and also keep an eye on
your currency, you never know if there are even small changes there may be good
savings to be had.
